Background
In the busy education sector, Kemp Carpenters was entrusted with constructing a new Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) and shed for Parafield Gardens Children's Centre. Completed in partnership with Spotless, this project proved our versatility and commitment to quality, delivered over a four-month period from August to November 2020.
From the Ground Up
With a project value of approximately $250K, our team of 10 experienced staff members collaborated seamlessly with 12 sub-contractors to bring this educational upgrade to life. The scope included extensive trenching and site preparation, concrete slab pouring, and the creation of robust timber wall and roof framing. Attention to detail was paramount as we executed tasks involving roofing, external cladding, and installation of both iron and cement sheeting.

Creating The Space Through Innovative Installations
The project required integrating a wide range of features, including aluminium and timber doors, a roller door, and blinds, plus new fencing, paving, and comprehensive electrical installations. Creating the space from the foundation, our expertise extended to fitting out practical elements such as a drinking trough, art sink, rainwater tank, painting, and even car park line marking.
Overcoming Obstacles
Embarking on a project within an operational children's centre posed a challenging arena for Kemp Carpenters. Balancing construction with the centre's day-to-day activities demanded a meticulous orchestration of tasks. Through methodical staging and planning, our team ensured the safety and functionality of the learning environment, achieving seamless integration with minimal disruption.
Faced with supply chain roadblocks during the peak of COVID, creative problem-solving became the cornerstone of our approach. By expanding our network of suppliers and thinking outside the box, we navigated extended lead times, ensuring that the project maintained its rhythm and met all milestones on schedule.
Our strategic flexibility turned potential delays into avenues for innovation, underlining our commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. By diversifying supplier chains, we minimised delays and maintained a steady project flow, aligning with our commitment to deliver outstanding results without compromising safety or quality.

Outcome
This project showcased Kemp Carpenters' adaptability, adherence to project completion, and ability to excel in challenging circumstances, reinforcing our commitment to craftsmanship and client satisfaction.
