Background
Kemp Carpenters took on the challenging task of upgrading the reception, office areas, and student bathrooms at Freeling Primary School, all within a tight timeframe. In partnership with Ventia, this project, valued at $270K, lasted from December 2020 to February 2021.
Safety First Always
A team of 8 internal staff and 13 sub-contractors worked diligently to complete the upgrades. The reception and office enhancements involved demolishing existing walls and ceilings, installing new structures, and updating joinery and floor coverings. The project also included installing aluminium-framed windows and timber doors and improving electrical and lighting systems.
The student bathrooms underwent significant improvements, with a focus on safely removing asbestos partitions. The project further involved rerouting plumbing, installing new floor linings, partitions, and fixtures, and updating lighting and exhaust systems.

Smart Planning for a Safe and Smooth Transition
Executing this project while the school remained operational required careful planning. We minimised disruptions by scheduling essential work within the school holiday period. Additionally, barriers were set up to maintain work zones, ensuring the school continued to function safely.
The safe removal of asbestos was a top priority, and Kemp Carpenters implemented stringent procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all school occupants.

Outcome
Guaranteeing a safe environment for staff and students was paramount, and this project underscored our ability to manage complex renovations while reinforcing a safe and secure environment for education.
